Corporate Training - Media

Media Training

The voice a company presents to the media is one of the most crucial links between a business and the public, and can play a vital role in the development and maintenance of a company's image. This course teaches how you can use the media to your advantage to enhance your company's profile, generate and re-build trust, and minimize impact in the event of a crisis.

Realistic and relevant role-play scenarios tailor-made to your organization will demonstrate the role of the media from both a public relations and journalist's perspective; cultivating a positive relationship with the media and fostering useful contacts; enhancing your reputation through common media avenues; building trust and repairing broken trust; how to recognize opportunities and use them to your advantage; decision-making under pressure; no-notice interview skills and the vital "ten second grab"; crisis management; useful media terminology; the importance of image; and reinforcement mechanisms for lasting results.

Each participant will be given a Brandon Centre workbook to reiterate the key messages, points and guidelines.

Interview Skills

This course is an extension of "Media Training", focusing solely on how to refine your skills during a media interview.

Through the use of hands-on role-play, mock interviews relevant to your organization will demonstrate how to best prepare for an interview; the role of the journalist and his/her objectives; how to use a media interview to your advantage; the changing requirements of interviews for print, radio and television; the power of the "ten, fifteen or twenty second grab"; how to adapt accordingly to a short-form or long-form interview; coping with heavy-handed or trick questions and how to spot them; minimizing crisis impacts through a media interview; handling little or no-notice interviews; and the importance of image.

Each participant will be given a Brandon Centre workbook to reiterate the key messages, points and guidelines.

TV Presenter Training

Whether you long for the spotlight but have never stepped in front of a camera, are an experienced presenter who needs some polishing up, or are a celebrity ready to make the transition from guest star to host, this course teaches you all you need to know about being a successful television presenter.

Realistic and relevant practice scenarios tailor-made to your objectives will demonstrate essential elements needed by a television presenter; the role of the presenter within the television environment; television terminology and the key things you'll need to know when starting out; how to build confidence on camera; identifying your unique traits and using them to your advantage; presenting skills for a range of environments, e.g. live television, lifestyle, MTV, news, etc; writing your own scripts; interview skills and your objectives as an interviewer; the importance of knowing your audience; effective adlibbing; voice training; avoiding common problems and faux pas; combating nerves; fixing awkward habits; building a showreel; audition tips; and the importance of image.

This course will be taught in English but the same principles still apply in Cantonese and Putonghua.

Each participant will be given a Brandon Centre workbook to reiterate the key messages, points and guidelines.

Actor Audition Training

Whether you're a seasoned professional or picking up drama as a new hobby, every actor rehearsing for a part or audition can benefit greatly from practicing their scene with another trained actor.

Simply bring in your specific scene requirements whether it be a monologue, duologue or group scene, and our trained acting tutors will help you rehearse your lines, provide another actor to bounce off, plan movement and blocking, and provide useful tips on performance and characterization.

Given that often the casting process can be quite dry and soulless, we will also practice the scene for as long as required, in an environment reminiscent of what the actor is likely to encounter on the day.
